Below are the tuition and fees for the 2019-2020 academic year. All amounts are per semester unless otherwise specified.

An estimated tuition cost can be calculated by locating your degree level (e.g., undergraduate), type of degree (e.g., Bachelor of Arts), and college (e.g., Parsons School of Design). Your tuition charge may be a flat tuition rate or a per-credit rate, depending on your program and registration. Mandatory university and other fees charged by the university can be found in the section University Fees. Open Campus costs can be found in the Open Campus section.

  Students who register for fewer than 12 credits are considered part-time and will be assessed tuition on a per-credit basis.

  Students matriculated in programs with flat-rate tuition who register above the full-time credit range will be assessed the flat tuition plus the per-credit tuition amount for each credit above the full-time credit limit.

  The credit ranges identified in the Tuition and Fees chart refer only to the related charges as a result of registration and should not be considered recommendations. The expected course load a student needs to carry to make satisfactory progress is determined by individual departments and is based on degree requirements. Please refer to the academic catalogs or consult with your academic advisor for more information.

  The Schools of Public Engagement (SPE) does not offer a flat-rate tuition; all students are assessed tuition on a per-credit basis.

  Note: Graduate students in the MPS in Fashion Management program take 12 credits in the fall semester, 10 or 12 credits in the spring semester, and 8 credits in the summer term.

  *Graduate students in the History of Design and Curatorial Studies, Fashion Studies, and Design Studies programs take 12 credits per semester in the first year and 9 credits per semester in the second year, which means that they are charged the per-credit rate in the second year of study only. Students in the Theories of Urban Practice and Strategic Design and Management programs take only 9 credits per term, which is below the full-time credit range.

• University Services and Student Senate

  The University Services and Student Senate Fees apply to all matriculated students in all programs.

  University Services Fee

  The University Services Fee consolidates the previous University Services Fee and Health Services Fee. It includes an increase of $40 over the fee for the 2018-2019 academic year.

  • This fee covers a range of supportive services for students at The New School. Starting in fall 2019, students will also receive added conveniences such as lifetime access to e-transcripts and e-diplomas and one replacement ID card (if their card is lost or stolen).
  • The consolidated University Services Fee applies to all students, with the following exceptions:
  • Master's and PhD students who were exempt from the Health Services Fee in 2018-2019 will pay a reduced consolidated fee of $240 per semester in 2019–2020 (the fee was reduced to ease the financial impact). SENS members should contact their union representative with any questions.
  • SENS-UAW members are eligible for a $600 University Services Fee rebate, in accordance with their contract.

  Student Senate Fee

  The Student Senate Fee applies to all matriculated students in all programs.

  Orientation Fee

  Beginning in fall 2019, new students at both the New York and the Paris campuses will pay a one-time Orientation Fee of $150.

  • This fee helps to offset costs associated with beginning studies at The New School and participating in campus and college orientation programs.
  • Students enrolled before fall 2019 will not pay an Orientation Fee.
  • PhD students will not pay an Orientation Fee.

  International Student Fee

  International students beginning in fall 2019 with an F-1 or J-1 visa will be assessed a $90 International Student Services Fee per semester.

  • This fee supports the additional services international students require, such as I-20 and DS-2019 processing, OPT application assistance, and support for ensuring international student compliance with federal regulations.
  • Students enrolled before fall 2019 will not pay the International Student Services Fee.

  Global Campus Fee

  Parsons Paris students will be assessed a $90 Global Campus Fee each semester.

  • This fee covers procedures required for international students by the French government.
  • Students enrolled before fall 2019 will not pay the Global Campus Fee.

  It is university policy that a late payment fee cannot be appealed or waived. The Late Registration Fee will be charged as a result of 1) add or drop registration activity after the add/drop period or 2) any course withdrawal after the withdrawal period.
